Artist's Comments

PHEW this took ALOT of work >< I'm not totally satisfied with the wings and rocky ledge but overall it's one of the better pictures I've ever done, I'm happy it how the sky and ocean came out, also the no line art style gave it that soft look I was going for

((edit)) tried adding some more contrast tooit =D upon a few suggestions, I think it come out better!

Hope ya all like it, please no 1-3 word comments, I like detailed ones best

You say that this is the best work in your gallery so far; I'm inclined to believe you. This is an incredible work of art, and shows vast improvement (or perhaps the rest of your artwork are more doodle-y than this), and attention to detail.

I gave you five stars for originality, for the same reason I really gave you a high score for technique and impact, outside of the quality of the work itself. There's a strange feel to this work, and it's only added by the fact that the subject isn't facing the viewer, but looking wistfully out into the distance. Why is she looking out into the distance? What is she thinking? And even though I can't read her mind, I still feel the impact of her yearning for... something. Whatever it is. And the mystery just adds to it; it's an effective style, and one I don't see a lot in general.

I have to say that I noticed something odd with this picture, and I wonder if it's deliberate: The ground and bottom of her dress seem blurry, yet her hair and wings are much more detailed, but mostly the hair has the most visible lines. The clouds, likewise, are very blurry, which draws the viewer's eye straight to the middle of the painting, away from the "not so interesting" blurred parts of the picture. I find that this adds a lot to the impact to the picture, and should be noted.

Other than that, I can't really add onto what Blaz had to say, although I would like to add that I am left wondering what the ring on her right, under the right wing is about. Is that a part of the character, part of the scenery? For me, it's slightly distracting, and it works slightly against the blurred-detailed-eye-catching I mentioned earlier, but not enough to seriously damage it.

Anyways, like I said earlier: Not an artist, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I personally think this is your grandest work so far Terra ^-^ and like I said before, I'M ENVIOUS OF THE HAIR! I love how detailed it is and how natural it looks, every strand just floating in the wind!

My only beef is the lack of shadows on her and on the ground. Where's the light coming from? It looks rather flat and I think maybe a sun set or something in front of her or the sun high above her would make this picture a whole lot more interesting and dramatic.

And maybe a few gulls in the air wouldn't hurt XD

Overall, I think its wonderful, good job!

Hmm...very interesting...
If it's not too much to ask, what does the title mean? (you know, how does it pertain to the pic?)

it's abit complicated, based on a dream.

you know this art just proves to me more that I may be a little insane... Seeing as how with the very realistic hair, excellent use of blurring of the background to emphasize the character, and high attention to detail, the very first thing I notice is the tiny crab in the corner

In all senses one could ask me if I could ever make sense, however I just respond "not a snowball's chance in hell if it were floating in the center of a white dwarf star and everyone there is playing with flamethrowers on BBQ night. "

What was the medium used here? I'm assuming it was digital, but at first glance I thought it was a painting.

Anyway It turned out looking very well :D the crab in the bottom right however doesn't look like he's really there to me, because of the blurry like effect around it, it just seems too clear. Also what is the hoop under her right wing?

But yeah, love it other than minor gripes ^^

^_^ Art based on dreams always comes out very nicely...

Lol didn't I say something about 1-3 word comments? I coulda SWORN I mentioned that via artist comments.
:iconmelancholy-melody13:
yep! lol I meant it to look like a painting sorta, think pastel, very soft and hehe XD the crab was done mostly as a joke, don't mind him.

and also that would be her falling halo thus the title lost innocence.
